Young Socrates – Prosperity [Review]

Alternative Hip-Hop artist and producer Young Socrates has dropped his latest single ‘Prosperity’.

Young Socrates’ mindful and unforgettable flow is accentuated on this track by a beat that’s as intriguing as it is unique. There’s a lot for hip-hop heads to love about this one.

According to Young Socrates, ‘Prosperity’ was written as a self-reminder to ‘never give up’. Young Socrates found inspiration for the track after working outdoors in Arizona for the summer, where the heat was unbearable at times.

The song dresses inspirational lyrics in distorted, unnerving production, with loud 808’s and shimmering vocal effects, combining for an experimental cut.

Born in Nigeria and raised in the UK, Young Socrates now resides in Nashville, where he has started his music career. Unrestricted by genre, his sound has drawn comparison to the work of Trent Reznor and Kanye West. Inspired by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Kid Cudi and Kendrick Lamar, Young Socrates’ experimental take on modern hip-hop looks to uplift it’s listener, with the belief that ‘leaving positive messages hidden in every song is the most important thing any artist can do’.

Prosperity is his fourth single of 2019, following on from his last effort ‘Energy’, a collaboration with rapper Jett Tha Kid.
