Xelavate – Fly Away [Review]

UK based artist Xelavate, also known as Alexander Savva showcases his natural ear for rhythm with his debut single ‘Fly Away’.

Picking up his first set of drum sticks at age 5, Xelavate continues to hone his crafts, shadowing top producers such as iLL BLU and TSB. The song features the sultry, smooth vocals of TAI, a semifinalist on “The Voice UK” and urban artist Aaron Anderson.

Xelavate’s track is a multidimensional journey. His inspirational lyrics, originally written in tandem with the beat he produced pair perfectly with TAI’s sharp vocals. Xelavate intended for the listener to feel the rhythm in your chest- and feel it you will. A listener can hear his percussionist background through his use of rhythmic ornaments in various synths and effects. Aaron Anderson’s rap is the cherry on top of the sundae, a well positioned detour that keeps the song from becoming repetitive.

At the surface, the lyrics portray a love song of sorts, but under the surface, Xelavate paints the story of anyone seeking to break away from whatever negative circumstances are trying to hold them back. Xelavate hits home the meaning of the song without sounding overly cheesy or basic, all while staying true to the current UK Rnb vibe.
