Wall Of Ice – Turn Around [Review]

‘Turn Around’ is the debut EP of Norwegian indie artist Wall of Ice, a project started by former session musician and producer Sebastian Waldejer.

The song was released in February 2018 and is said to be inspired by Norwegian nature and its industrial surroundings. It’s an instantly appealing yet mellow track which uses warm vocals and a gentle beat to mesmerise the listener, possessing an enchanting quality which makes it worth returning to over and over again.

The alluring record is absorbing and attractive, drawing you in with acoustic electronic instrumentals, smooth melodies, and velvety lead vocals. The hook is simple but effective, (essentially repeating the song’s title), but the track never feels repetitive. The chorus is catchy and after playing it a few times you won’t be able to get it out of your head, but there are subtle changes in the song – such as when piano is introduced towards the end – which keep it feeling fresh and encourage the listener to remain engaged.

‘Turn Around’ is the first of several songs set to be released by Wall of Ice in 2018, with an additional six tracks expected before the end of the year, so expect to hear more from them in the coming months.
