Here’s an exclusive first listen to Run Me Down, the brand-new track from US alt-rocker Truett.
It’s a stylish, energetic anthem, laced with reverberating riffs, shuffling beats and awesome rasping vocals, each playing their part to create a killer track. The song has a true toe-tapping, American rock feel that’s right up our street, blending cool soul with blues rock.
The vigorous melodies and stomping bass work perfectly to create a buoyant sound, and we can’t help but draw comparisons with bands like The Blacks Keys, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats or Kings of Leon. It’s a fresh, original take on a winning rock formula.
Interestingly, Truett wrote the song with Ron Pope and Jonathan Tyler while supporting Ron on his 2016-17 tour. They started it in Redding, CA and ended up finishing the track somewhere around Oklahoma City, OK while they were on the road together.
Run Me Down is taken from Truett’s sophomore EP, due out in 2018. Speaking about the track, he says:
“Run Me Down is one of my favourite songs on this EP because I got to collaborate with two people I really look up to and who inspire me. The song for me is a story of life on the road and pushing towards a goal I have dreamed of since I was a kid. The lyrics in this song hold a lot of truth and experiences I’ve been through. I really wore the soles off of my favorite boots while on the road.”
Run Me Down is released through Brooklyn Basement Records and is available from today.
