Tayls – Change Your Mind [Review]

Nashville’s psych-pop/avant-punk band Tayls will release their self-titled debut EP on May 18th featuring ‘Change Your Mind’ and ‘Consider the Lilies’.

‘Change Your Mind’ tells a story of heartache and obsolescence from the perspective of a toaster oven woven through folk-style songwriting with explosive dynamics and a lush atmosphere. This is just one of the fiery tracks that is featured on their self-titled EP coming 18th May with the likes of Vance Powell (Jack White, Beyonce, Chris Stapleton) having mixed 2 of the 6 songs on the EP including the EP’s focus track ‘Consider the Lilies’.

Tayls is comprised of members of Creature Comfort (played Bonnaroo 2017), Molly Rocket, Roots of a Rebellion, and The Subnovas. Being defined all round the world, Nashville Scene described their up and coming EP as “Punk-tinged pop anthems about believing in yourself, even when people are cruel enough to tell you you shouldn’t.” No Country for New Nashville however called it “Layered, psych sensibilities and an ability to craft huge, electrifying, poppy hooks, underscored with his earnest, personal, and bold lyricism.”

Filled with coming of age anthems about trusting yourself and your art, the EP balances bombastic punk-rock attitude with honest, heartfelt introspection. Tayls will celebrate with a dual-venue release party at Mercy Lounge and The High Watt in Nashville on May 18 with support from The JAG, Justin Kalk, Lasso Spells and many more.
