The Stellars slick single ‘Brilliant’ is mellow rock, and – despite being inspired by college parties – makes for one easy listen.

The track has a slow start, with a soft guitar and steady percussion. Then the chorus kicks in and the band takes it up a notch with a rocking chorus. The chorus is catchy and it only takes a couple of listens to start singing along.

It’s living room rock, the kind of track which sounds like your friend picks up a guitar and starts jamming at a party.

The track is not the most polished, but its rough edges give it a real feel.  It’s within these edges, the winding guitar and drawling vocals, you can hear the band influences – Weezer and early Green Day springing to mind. Plus the chilled pace of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
