Ritual Talk – More Than I Can Mention [Review]

‘More Than I Can Mention’ is the latest alternative indie-pop release from Brooklyn band Ritual Talk.

Ritual Talk’s new single ‘More Than I Can Mention’ gives off heavy Tame Impala vibes whilst displaying a combination of a calming voice and guitar, to a colorful, up-beat synth. The track is one that you can blast through your speakers on full volume or listen to quietly on the commute home. The concoction of instruments complement each other enormously, creating a catchy tune that will have listeners hitting replay for weeks.

Regarding their new single, Alex DeSimine said: “I wrote this song years ago about a friend of mine who was grumpy all the time, no matter what.” However, in 2018 this song is said to have a whole new meaning to the singer and songwriter as it now tells him to keep his head up when he’s feeling down.

This track was recorded in Brooklyn and is the first to be released by Ritual Talk’s own record label Sonosoma Records. Releasing music on Ritual Talk’s independent record label is an immense achievement, and one which the band should be massively proud of. ‘More Than I Can Mention’ follows the band’s successful EP of 2016, ‘Ripped Glass’, which was very well-received. The Deli NYC labelled Ritual Talk’s sound as psych, alt-soul, which is particularly prominent in this new single.
