Randy’s Got a Playdough Face – Spot [Review]

Randy’s Got a Playdough Face takes us back to the 00’s with his track Spot.

Taken from Randy’s second album, Ours, Spot channels his nostalgic love of the 00’s alternative rock. It’s one of those songs that you can tell great care and attention has been poured deep into it. You get a real sense of introspection, as the sweetly woven guitar tones and soft vocals drift over the sharp groove, forcing you to take the journey back in time with Randy.

By now you can probably guess there are signs of alternative indie pioneers in this one. You get the slightly jarring guitar tones and smartly constructed bass line that made Modest Mouse so appealing. This goes for the excellent arrangement, too. It’s designed to be heard to a number of times, so you pick up new things on each occasion. If you’re feeling a little nostalgic and want to kick out the 00s indie rock jams, then you don’t need to look any further than here.
