Penguin – Get Me Out [Review]

Alternative rock band Penguin from Newcastle upon Tyne who made their musical debut by uploading the demo ‘Not A Problem’ to Soundcloud have put out a new track.

‘Get Me Out’ is the latest instalment from the group and is labelled as the band’s first official release. This more polished sound showcases the progression the band have achieved since their previous release. Their previous single ‘Not A Problem’ was well received, securing radio play from Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1 and gaining a significant amount of blog coverage. Despite being a demo, the track contributed to Penguin being picked to play the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading & Leeds Festivals 2017.

The new track ‘Get Me Out’, although more refined still retains the huge guitar riffs demonstrated in their early demos. With tip tapping cow bells and clear sounds from their roots it’s safe to say Penguin full well know how to make an alt-rock track. Catchy lyrics help tame the erratic guitar riffs that run rapid and consistently through the 4-and-a-half-minute adventure down a whole new yellow brick road.
