Needy Empty – Houseplants [Review]

California based Needy Empty shares his first single Houseplants.

Self-described as ‘sun-soaked fog rock’, Needy Empty’s debut track is filled with hazy synth effects and rising vocal melodies. The charming rhythm and playful bassline woo you right from the start. Houseplants difficult not to become obsessed with on first listen. You get swept away by the medley of influences fused into one stellar piece of music.

There’s a full-bodied groove throughout. The overall flow is reminiscent of the psych-rock stylings of Tame Impala and to some extent, the indie-pop maestros Future Islands. Needy Empty creates that same carefree, psych-pop effect that shines through the impressive arrangement. It’s 3 and a half minutes of blissful wonderment, guaranteed to give you momentary escape.
