High Tropics – You Never Made it Easy [Review]

Here’s the latest guitar-driven single from indie-rock outfit High Tropics.

From the very first second, ‘You Never Made It Easy’ provokes a knee jerk reaction sending you back to the early 2000’s. The new single by High Tropics may be a throwback to indie giants The Strokes, but this is a testament to the song’s strengths. It fits seamlessly amongst other great indie tracks; an unpolished marvel from the Queensland based group.

Steeped in fuzzy guitars, it’s not hard to see why the band had interest from some big names. ‘You Never Made It Easy’ comes off the back of two singles released by Roll Cal Records in the US last year.

The track has a rough around the edges simplicity, but it’s clear that this is exactly what was intended. The hook line captivates and relentlessly holds your ears without letting go. Even the imperfections of the guitar solo suit the songs coarse exterior. It’s the suave sounds that ooze from its core which makes this track so easy to leave on repeat.
