Greater Bird of Paradise – The Hourglass [Review]

Brooklyn based singer/song-writer, Sam Christopher, better known as Greater Bird of Paradise, brings a sweetly woven folk tune to the table – The Hourglass.

From the very beginning, the soft lead guitar entices you into this stripped back, yet majestic tune; encasing you in a warm cocoon of folk melody. It’s also clear that elements of ‘days gone by’ folk singers linger throughout. Whether you focus on the angelic vocals or soothing and intricate guitar work, the influence of Joni Mitchell and Simon and Garfunkel burst through.

Released at the end of last week (May 22nd) as a one track EP, The Hourglass, is the perfect remedy for the times when you need to sit back, relax and, once again, admire the serenity in the world.
