GR3YWXLF – Lavish [Review]

Self-proclaimed supervillain and audio alchemist GR3YWXLF is back with another wonderfully menacing new track. This is Lavish.

Mixing foreboding flows and clever wordplay with an antagonistically haunting yet addictive instrumental, GR3YWXLF stamps his own unapologetic brand on the rap game.

You can sense distinctive notes of Gambino and MF Doom amongst other influences on his off-kilter and engaging delivery.

This is alt hip-hop, especially for the UK scene. You’d be mistaken in thinking GR3YWXLF heralds from the other side of the Atlantic, but understandably as his sound echoes that of The States, straying from British rap conventions.

Punctuated with pop culture references and doused with scheming and tongue in cheek (we hope!) plots of world domination, it seems we’re all invited to the House of Wxlves.
