Firesites – Chemicals [Review]

Chemicals is the latest track from multi-instrumentalist and producer Firesites.

Following on from his debut EP Transistor, Chemicals is the first track to be released from Firesites’ new album The Sun. With a mix of influences, ranging from mellow synth-pop to alternative rock, there’s something in here for everyone. You’re invited to saunter through the dreamy arrangement, becoming enthralled with the sheer brilliance of composition on display.

Chemicals is tough to fit into one genre. You have the atmospheric chillwave tones that cover you like a warm blanket in the winter. Towards the end, you will find yourself bopping along to an alt-rock inspired guitar solo. The vocals are powerfully raw, similar to Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil, carrying a memorable tenderness to them. It’s an impressive track that has been crafted in a way that makes it difficult to put down once you’ve picked it up.
