Evenson – Forest [Review]

This is ‘Forest’, the brand-new single from electro-indie artist Evenson.

The lead single from his debut project ‘Ramen Boy’, this track lays out what to expect from Evenson’s sound in clear terms. Electric beats blended with alternative melodies reminiscent of Friendly Fires and Bloc Party’s inimitable ‘Flux’.

This track has electro indie pop at it’s heart. Every inch of the track is laced with electronic sounds, particularly Evenson’s reverb and and autotune-laced vocals which drive the song forward relentlessly.

According to Evenson, ‘Forest’ embarks upon the journey of one man’s inability to find and maintain love in his life, and the one moment he realizes what was in front of him, he already blew his shot by being a ‘douchebag’. ‘Douchebag’ is a word not often heard in song lyrics, and I have to admit I enjoyed hearing it!

The chorus is undeniably infectious and there’s a sound and mood to this track that we haven’t heard on the indie scene in a while. There’s a gap in the alternative market that Evenson is poised to fill.
