It’s been a whole year of writing and recording but now up-and- coming Melbourne based garage-rock band Diana Radar are back with the video for their new single ‘Sex Sells’.
This tune has been in my head since I first heard it with its intense bass and catchy hooks. Whilst the vocals can’t exactly be described as dulcet tones, Diana Radar’s rough and jagged sound only adds to the captivating display of the proto-punk vibe they have so brilliantly crafted.
The beginning of the song is beautifully built up with the strong bass riff and guitar ascending into the powerful drum beat. The sound is dark and somehow quiet and loud all at the same time. There is a layer of angst to the song, expressed fluently throughout the song via everything from the vocals to the lyrics, to the musicality driven by the instrumentation.
Diana Radar is definitely a band to keep an eye out for; in fact you can catch them making their return to the live stage at The Grace Darling on 23rd February!
