Daniel Rocque – Wind and Rain [Review]

Canadian Daniel Rocque has released his new single Wind and Rain.

There’s a swirling atmosphere of 60s motown soul that oozes out of every part of this track. As you listen to the wonderfully constructed horn section and impeccably placed guitar, you are sent back into a time of drive-in cinemas and hair styled with Brylcreem. Its floaty essence and laidback vibe mean that you can listen to it no matter what mood you are in.

Dripping in a retro sauce, Wind and Rain has elements of folk, motown and psychedelia all wrapped into one unmissable tune. It creates familiarity as if you are listening to The Byrds. The soothing vocals mirror the stripped back, cosy nature of the 60s folk-rockers, keeping enough of Rocque’s character at the same time. Rocque has created a superb throwback to the golden age of music that you won’t want to miss out on.
