Cheem – Kate [Review]

Cheem share their emo-laced alt-indie track ‘Kate’. Hit play below.

Cheem have a sound that’s hard to pin down. It’s part power pop, part emo, part something I can’t quite put my finger on. I’m not even going to try and put a clear label on it, but there’s one thing I’m sure of – I dig it.

Reading a little into the band’s history I can see why they’ve developed such a unique style. Having formed during the heady days of high school, the band cite influences ranging from 90s pop rock to Frank Ocean and *NSYNC.

‘Kate’ is a lo-fi collision of ideas, bringing alt-indie back to basics in a big way, hauling the fuzzy chorus lines and distorted vocals we love along for the ride

Although they only recently came to my attention, it looks like these guys have been turning industry heads for a while. Cheem are a band on the rise, making music that confounds and astounds in equally awesome measures.
