Brett Newski brings us an uplifting, catchy number with his new release ‘Ride’.
Accompanied by a video with some, ‘unique’ shall we say, dance moves, this is a feel-good track, and definitely one for the summer playlist. Brett quit his part time jobs to make music, and has an impressive touring schedule behind him as a result. Described by Brett as a song that is for the ‘weirdo’s to re-unite’, it evokes the feeling being happy with yourself, and whatever life throws at you.
‘Ride’ slots right into the rock indie genre. If you’re a fan of the likes of The Kooks, Razorlight and the Arctic Monkeys, this is for you. There is also a slight ring of folk influences, but subtly, so as to not be too overpowering.
The nature of the track is summery, positive and carefree. Brett delivers a strong lead vocal throughout, which is backed by upbeat percussion and guitars, giving an almost a nostalgic noughties’ feel to it, and creating that classic band sound. This is one for the top down on a summers day, and as the video was filmed on Route 66, I’d say that’s the perfect way to enjoy it.
