Bluedaze – Hodad [Review]

Indie rock outfit, Bluedaze, have shared their new song, Hodad.

There’s a real swing to the track from the very beginning, with the solid bassline setting the tone. Next come the soaring vocals over the top, and with the addition of synth layers and lucid guitar tones, it’s hard to find fault with this one. It’s pleasing on the ears as well as being super catchy.

You can see the Courtney Barnett influence bursting through, best showcased in the vocal style, as well as the general feel of the track. There’s a tight laziness to it, which is not a bad thing at all. The easy going vibe goes hand in hand with the subject of the title, backed up with the subtle touches of Californian surf rock. It’s things like this that show you the track is well thought out and great care has been taken to make it sound so good.
