ARLO – Homecoming [Review]

ARLO brings his own brand of infectious indie-pop in his latest track ‘Homecoming’.

Homecoming is a alternative-pop anthem occupying its own unique space within a wide-ranging genre. It’s big, bold, stadium-filling sounds remind me of breakthrough tracks from the likes of Bastille and Imagine Dragons.

ARLO’s voice isn’t your typical indie tone. Leaving his British twang out there and noticeable, ARLO’s vocals are clearly the showpiece of the track, rising well above the instrumental to take centre stage.

Behind these superb vocal line, sit a driving beat, which at certain points in the track sits alone, complemented only by subtle synth lines. The electronic overtones are subtle in parts, grandiose in others, working perfectly to complete ARLO’s unique style and overarching sound.

Hotly tipped by a bunch of influential industry influencers, including BBC Radio 1 and Beats 1, it looks like ARLO’s one to watch for in 2018, and it seems like plenty of others out there agree.
