Anna Altar – Like You [Review]

We recently caught wind of singer-songwriter Anna Altar and her unmissable track ‘Like You’

Brooding dark-pop at its best, ‘Like You’ builds from minimal beginnings, through emotional verses and into a powerful chorus that’ll leave you belting your own version out in the shower before you know it. I was instantly reminded of recent breakthrough band Wolf Alice on first listen.

Anna has a breathless, spine-tingling tone to her voice. There’s a raw vulnerability to her lyrics too, instantly relatable to anyone who’s been through the pain of knowing they are meant to be with someone, but also knowing it can never be.

Anna Altar is actually is the alter-go of Los Angeles-based songsmith Nicole Mormann, formely of indie acoustic band Chills. Interestingly, Mormann says that ‘Like You’ was written just in ten minutes and recorded as a demo on Logic Pro, before getting producers involved to make the track what it is today.

Anna Altar is currently working on her debut EP, which is due for release by spring of this year.
