For the first time in five years, Alexander Mills has released a new single, ‘Get Out Your Head’—and man, it feels good.
The Brisbane, Australia-based alternative singer-songwriter (though Barbados born-and-raised) pairs bona fide acoustics to his quirky blend of folk pop and rock. ‘Get Out Your Head’ is the musical equivalent to a cold beer on a hot summer day: it feels good and you wouldn’t mind if you had to do—or listen to—the exact same thing every day.
That feel-good authenticity, which can very nearly be likened to bottled-up sunshine, is rooted in catchy guitar and folk vocals that allow listeners to really listen to the lyrics instead of getting caught up in the musical escapades. After five years, Mills surely knew what he wanted to say when it came time to release a new single and ‘Get Out Your Head’ is a triumphant, happy return to music.
Rest assured, you won’t be able to get this song out of your head—don’t judge yourself, I won’t either.
